Statin Survey
"Statins" are medicines belonging to a class called HMG CoA reductase inhibitors. They lower cholesterol and have been shown to improve the length people live with certain conditions such as heart disease, high blood pressure or diabetes. Examples of statins are atorvastatin, pravastatin, simovastatin, fluvastatin.
However, like all medicines they can cause some people unwanted effects or side effects, such as swelling of the lower legs and muscle pains. This survey is gauging the impact that these unwanted effects have people who are taking statins. Recruitment is only through the internet and the questionnaire accessed online.
The survey is ongoing and to date we have enrolled 570 people into the survey.
