Patient Compliance/ Adherence to Treatment
An area of great interest is patient adherence to medical advice, whether it be taking a product, monitoring a condition with a device or using a device. Many interventions have strong evidence of efficacy from well designed clinical trials. These are in controlled settings and use in real life rarely seems to yield as impressive outcomes. Data and information can be gathered from patients on use of interventions and an understanding of the factors involved in determining adherence be built. With this attained knowledge, programmes can be designed to facilitate and improve both adherence and outcomes. Patients Direct have been involved in analysing reasons for non adherence and designing programmes to address the patient issues.
